About Us
My name is Sophia and along with my husband Johnny, two children Isabella & Phoebe, we are Awelondoodles.
Breeding from health tested parents, within a home environment, for family homes.
We fell in love with the Goldendoodle many years ago after looking after my mums F1 Goldendoodle - Sandy, while she went away for a few days.
At the time, we had an 18 moth old daughter, Isabella, and we instantly knew this was the breed for us!
Sandy was not only beautiful to the eye, but she had the presence within the family, that was comforting and relaxing for Isabella. She would lay next to her and stroke her long curly coat while watching TV and drinking from her bottle. Sandy also enjoyed going out for walks and was always kind to other dogs and admirers that would stop and stroke her.
Now, many years on, we have 2 Goldendoodles, 2 standard poodles and 1 golden retriever. I think it's safe to say we adore this mix of standard poodle and golden retriever.
I dedicate not only my time but part of my home to raising our pups and providing them a safe, warm and homely environment to start their life. We also have 3 Ragdoll cats that our puppies are exposed to.
Our 2 children, Isabella & Phoebe, play a very active role whenever we have a litter of puppies and its clear to see they share the same passion for raising puppies the right way, while having lots of playtime fun. Phoebe has expressed an interest in becoming a VET or Zookeeper, from her love of animals.
I look after our 5 girls and puppies' full time. This includes feeding, cleaning and exercising our females daily. Plus, regular grooming. This allows me to be with our litters 24/7 and sleep with nursing mothers until 3 weeks of age in our warm living room, so new mums can be reassured by myself, and help is on hand if needed. With puppies being born in the centre of our homes, they are exposed to every day sounds from birth.
I also trained in canine fertility, ultrasound & microchipping. So, our puppies are microchipped by myself after turning 6 weeks old, as a legal requirement. I am also council licenced, under Newport City Council, and registered as self employed. My priority is to breed correctly and within legal requirements.
Under our Council requirement, we have our breeding females vet checked every year, and a visit carried out by the Council Animal Welfare Officer, to ensure we are breeding within the correct environment and fire safety guidelines.
An enrichment and socialisation plan is in place, to ensure our puppies get the very best start with us. This includes starting a toilet training programme.
Before we plan a breeding we always ensure relevant health testing has been completed and results are satisfactory. The health tests we carry out are: DNA swab panel testing for any genetic relatable diseases, Hip & elbow X-Rays & full Vet check.
Outside stud dogs will also be chosen on a health and temperament basis. Colour is never the forefront of our breeding. Health and temperament is.
We always want the very best homes for our puppies. A questionnaire will be sent to those wishing to join our rolling list of interest, if successful, you will have the opportunity to join a specific litter waiting list.
New owners will be given the opportunity to reserve a puppy once born. WhatsApp groups will be set up, to share daily videos and pictures. You will always have ongoing help and support. Puppy selections will take place between birth and 4 weeks old in order of deposits received for that waiting list. First visits take place at 4 weeks old to avoid risk of infection.
Our puppies are raised for the first 3-4 weeks in our warm & cosy living room, before adventuring into a safe play and sleep area set up in our family kitchen/dinning room. Puppies are exposed to usual household movements and noises from day to day living, going on around them, along with the introduction to our other females within our home. At around 6 weeks old, puppies level up to a larger area with their own indoor / outdoor set up to hopefully give new owners a positive start to potty training in their first few weeks at home. This is equipped with a large crate to introduce puppies to crate exposure, plus outdoor tunnels, balance stones and boards.
First visits for families take place at 4-5 weeks old, in waiting list order.
We have also introduced ENS. Early Neurological Stimulation. This has been observed to benefit the puppy later in life with improved cardiovascular performance, stronger heart beats, stronger adrenal glands, more tolerance to stress and greater resistance to disease. We perform a few little exercises from day 3 the puppies are born and carry out every day until day 16. My daughter Phoebe likes to help with this.
Every milestone will be recorded and shared within the private groups set up. Previous puppy families have thoroughly enjoyed these groups and still communicate with litter mates sharing all adventures and updates.
I am always available for aftercare help and support.
Breeding is not just my passion/ hobby/ job, it's what I invest heavily my time, love and energy into.
As a mother, wife and dog owner, I aim to give the best experience I can to new family puppy owners and the puppies themselves while in my care.
We have puppies all over the UK, plus 1 in Southern France & 1 in Dubai.
What our puppies leave with:
* Scent blanket
* Microchipped by breeder
* Snuffle Ball
* Tugg Toy
* Natural Treat Pack
* Puppy food
* Sales contract
* Record of worming dates
* 4 Week Free Pet Plan Insurance (optional)
We do not vaccinate our puppies. The reason for this, Vets have different courses and timelines they provide within a puppy package, and we do not want puppies over vaccinated or having to re start a vaccination course because of this. I recommend all new owners conduct their own research into vaccines and discuss this with their Vet.
Please note: We prefer to breed for family homes, so should you wish to breed from one of our puppies this must be discussed before you complete an application form.
